Join the Elon Faculty Union, SEIU Local 32

By joining as a full voting member of the Elon faculty union, you have a voice in shaping our working conditions—including working toward fair pay and job security.

As a democratic organization of adjuncts on campus, it takes everyone coming together to protect what we love about our jobs and to make improvements that benefit ourselves, our families, and our students.

Why not join? It is a place where adjuncts can contribute to others like themselves. It is a place where they can connect to others within their university. I can pass my voice through the appropriate channel.

I wanted to be a part of the conversation. The union provided a social scaffolding that allowed for cross-communication between departments that was nearly impossible before. As a result of the wins in our contract, I worry less about personal financial considerations, the scheduling of classes, or being able to know what classes I will be teaching in the future.

I had worked at prior institutions where there wasn’t a union and everything was great. And then one day, things were not fine at my school and I realized how much a union would have been useful in voicing our concerns. Now, I see my contribution as insurance to ensure that Elon remains as great as it is now.
